Where there are people,
there are conflicts. Although most people would say
they don’t like conflicts and try to avoid
them, I believe conflict is not only useful but also
necessary for workplace vibrancy.
Generally, people dislike conflict for two reasons:
they don’t have the necessary skills to navigate
the conflict successfully, and conflict is inherently
uncomfortable. Fortunately, we can all learn to communicate, “sit
in the fire,” and come to an increased understanding
of conflict-driven issues and conduct.
Conflicts are often scary and perceived as “dangerous” to
those involved. Consequently, any conflict mediation/training
I undertake is individually tailored to the conflict
and people involved, and carefully planned and facilitated.
