Executive Coaching

Coaching is a process, not an event. Accordingly, the coaching process is multi-phasic: 1. contracting/intake, 2. goals and objectives, 3. implementation/evaluation and 4. completion. A typical coaching cycle lasts six months to one year, dependent on the complexity of the issues and the investment of the client. Although coaching frequently focuses on issues of great personal importance to the client, coaching is not therapy.

There are many coaching models, and as many coaching styles as there are coaches. At this writing, there is no California State law requiring certification for coaches, further, there is no “gold standard” for training. Therefore, coaches come from all walks of life and have varying credentialing and experiences. It is quite important then to ascertain that a prospective coach has the experience and style that you think would best facilitate your growth as a client.

I have been providing professional coaching for 9 years, and have coached individuals in the following organizations:

• Nikko Asset Management, Tokyo, Japan
Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula, Monterey
• Kaiser Permanente, Los Angeles
• Glide Foundation, San Francisco
• EARTHTel, Oakland
• AltaMed, Los Angeles
• Aplomb Consulting, San Francisco
• Central Coast Cardiology, Salinas
• Regional Transit Authority, San Luis Obispo
